Richard Martin Edmonds, 67, of Columbus died Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at his home.
Funeral services were Monday, September 14, 2020, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home in Columbus. Burial, with full military honors, was at Nineveh Christian Church Cemetery.
Mr. Edmonds was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He lived in Louisiana during Hurricane Katrina and helped rebuild through his construction company, R & C Construction. He enjoyed playing euchre, fishing, drawing, and traveling.
Born September 15, 1952 in Franklin, Mr. Edmonds was the son of Bobby G. Edmonds and Dorothy J. Inabnitt Edmonds.
Survivors include his son, Richard (Jennifer) Robertson of Arkansas; daughters, Allyson East of Edinburgh and Angela (Brian) Cooper of Elizabethtown; companion, Carol Scott of Westwego, Louisiana; brothers, Michael Edmonds of Columbus and Gary Bensheimer of Franklin; sisters, Joyce Edmonds of Seymour, Karen Mercer of Nineveh, and Bev Wilson and Janet Acton, both of Columbus; grandchildren, Logan Poff, Tyler (Emily) Cooper, Nathaniel East, Braydon McIntosh, and Sunny Robertson; and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Edmonds was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Donna Bensheimer.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to help with final expenses.
