Francis Dale Idlewine, 88, Bass & Gasper Funeral Home

Francis Dale Idlewine, 88, of Greensburg died at 8 a.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2020, at his residence.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2020, at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastor Doug Preston officiating. Burial, with military graveside rites, will follow at Westport Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday,
August 14, 2020, from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Idlewine, a lifelong resident of Decatur County, graduated from Sandcreek Township High School in 1950 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Cummins Engine Company in 1997 after 35 years of service and had also worked in the paint and sporting goods departments at Walmart in Greensburg for 19 years. Mr. Idlewine was a member of Westport Methodist Church and had been attending Lifeline Wesleyan Church of Greensburg. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge #927, Greensburg American Legion #129, Family Campers and RVs, Good Sam's Club, and was a Kentucky Colonel. He enjoyed traveling and camping.

Born November 18, 1931, in Decatur County, Mr. Idlewine was the son
of Adam and Ruth Belt Idlewine. He married Blanch Louise Blanton March 13, 1965 at the Methodist Church in Westport and she preceded him in death March 22, 2015. Survivors include daughters, Debbie (George) Zimmerman of Elizabethtown and Cathy (Dave) Summa of Coopersville, Michigan; stepson, Eddie Garrison of Kentucky; sister, Elnora (Harvey) Sturdivant of Westport; brother, Norman (Shelia) Idlewine of Westport; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.

Mr. Idlewine was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sons, Dale and Jeff Idlewine; brothers, James, Adam, Jr., and Gerald Idlewine; and sister, Donna K. Marshall.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana through the funeral home.
