Charles Lee Franklin, 83, Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home
Charles Lee Franklin, 83, of Versailles died Tuesday, July 21, 2020, at his home.
Funeral services were Saturday, July 25, at Dabney Baptist Church.
Burial was at Dabney Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Versailles American Legion. Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles was entrusted with arrangements.
Mr. Franklin was a 1956 graduate of Holton High School and a 37-year employee of Bonn Aluminum in Greensburg where he worked in quality control. He was a member of the Dabney Baptist Church, former member of Ripley County Fair Board, and a member of the McDonald's Coffee Club in Versailles. Mr. Franklin enjoyed farming, collecting Farmall tractors, IU basketball, and hunting and fishing.
Born in Forest Corner northwest of Holton March 5, 1937, Mr. Franklin was the son of Glenn and Josie Stratton Franklin. He married Bonnie Townsend October 26, 1974, and she preceded him in death August 26, 2017.
Survivors include sons, Mark (Carla) Franklin of Holton and Geoff Franklin of Osgood; grandchildren, Ethan Franklin of Butlerville, Dana Franklin of Ashboro, North Carolina, Kendra Franklin of Holton, and Nicholas and Madelynn Franklin, both of Osgood.
Mr. Franklin was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and brothers, Elmer and William Franklin.
Memorial may be given to the Dabney Cemetery or Good News Clubs in care of the funeral home.
