Jerald Wayne Chase, 79, Bass & Gasper Funeral Home
Jerald Wayne Chase, 79, of Westport died at 9:17 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2020, at his residence.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2020, at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport. Rev. Tom Rust will officiate. Burial will follow at Westport Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday, June 25, 2020, at the funeral home.
Mr. Chase a 1959 graduate of Vevay High School and had been a Decatur County resident since 1965. He worked as a machine operator for 29 years for Delta Faucet and was a member of the Methodist Church. He coached softball for many years and enjoyed sports, playing cards, corn hole, and playing horse shoes.
Born March 9, 1941, in Rising Sun, Mr. Chase was the son of Paul Edwin and Kathleen Jeanette Bladon Chase. He married Loretta Lee Woodruff in Rising Sun June 3, 1961, and she preceded him in death April 5, 2018.
Survivors include daughters, Tammy Chase of Fordsville, Kentucky, Kimberly (Troy) Knapp of Sardinia, and Ella (Jason) Hoke of Hope; sons, Harley Chase of Letts, Dennis (Emma) Chase of Osgood, and Mark (Brandi) Chase of Clive, Iowa; sisters, Mary Weber of Aurora and Ella Chase of Rising Sun; brothers, Raymond Chase of Rising Sun, Ernie and Robert Chase, both of Vevay, and Donald Chase of Aurora; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Chase was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Claude, Paul, and William Chase; and sisters, Laura and Karen Chase.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the American Cancer Society or to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
