Debra Sue Day, 65, Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home
Debra Sue Day, 65, of North Vernon died at 7:28 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2020, at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus.
Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2020, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until time of services. Only 25 people will be allowed in the funeral home at a time.
Miss Day was a 1974 graduate of Jennings County High School and
attended I.U.P.U.I. in Indianapolis. She was a captain at Madison Juvenile Correction Facility in Madison, retiring in 2015 after six years.
Miss Day had previously worked for Madison Correction for Women in Madison for two years and as a supervisor for the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville for 29 years. She was president of AFSCME Union (American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees) at Muscatatuck State Developmental Center for 10 years. Miss Day enjoyed reading, mowing grass, spending time with her family, and taking care of others.
Born November 10, 1954, in Seymour, Miss Day was the daughter of Robert L. and Jane (Morgan) Day.
Survivors include brothers, Robert D. (Brenda) Day of North Vernon, and Ronnie (Caroline) Day of Madison and sister, Tammy (Roger) Adams of North Vernon.
Miss Day was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the American Kidney Association.
