Martha Hope Mitchell Blair, 94, Adams Family Funeral Home
Martha Hope Mitchell Blair, 94, of Tampico died at Scott Memorial Hospital in Scottsburg Tuesday, March 31, 2020.
Private graveside services were conducted Friday, April 3, 2020, at Crothersville Cemetery. Mark Wooten officiated. Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Crothersville was entrusted with arrangements.
Mrs. Blair graduated in 1943 from Crothersville High School. She had worked for a short time in the office of Morgan Packing Co. in Austin, for many years at the old U.S. Shoe Factory in Crothersville, and for a short time at the H.O Canfield in Seymour. Mrs. Blair enjoyed babysitting her grandsons and working in her garden and flowers. She was a member of Tampico Christian Church and had helped with the youth groups and various other church activities. After her husband passed away, she returned to the Church of the Nazarene in Crothersville.
Born November 27, 1925, in Crothersville, Mrs. Blair was the daughter of Sampson D. and Ruth Pansy Stone Mitchell. She married Lorel "Butch" Blair August 18, 1943, in Tampico.
Survivors include a son, Michael (Joyce) Blair of Tampico; daughter,
Mary (Keith) Cox of Crothersville; grandsons, Brian (Kim) Cox of Scottsburg, and Steve (Michelle) Cox and Michael (Haley Deckert) Blair, both of Tampico; a granddaughter, Katrina (Joe) Walburn of Fort Wayne; nine great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; brother, John E. (Flo) Mitchell of Griffin, Georgia; and a sister, Jean (Larry) Amick of Scottsburg.
Mrs. Blair was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Kenneth; brothers, Rev. Garnett, Garland, and Ralph Mitchell; and sisters, Dorothy Spall and Ruth Foster.
