Dorothy Jean Bibb Rice, 86, Adams Family Funeral Home

Dorothy Jean Bibb Rice, 86, of Commiskey died Monday, March 23, 2020, at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus.

Private funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2020, at Adams Family Funeral Homes & Crematory in Crothersville with burial following at Hayden Cemetery. A private family visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of services Thursday, March 26, 2020, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Rice had been a telephone operator, worked at the license branch, and shoe factory, all in Crothersville, was an emergency medical technician with Jennings County Rescue, and a realtor for Century 21 in Jennings County. She retired in 1984 from Muscatatuck State Hospital as a CNA. Mrs. Rice had served as a Girl Scout troop leader, was a member of Hayden Chapter Eastern Star and the Scott County Historical Society Museum. She enjoyed genealogy, crocheting, and quilting and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Born August 7, 1933, in Jackson County, Mrs. Rice was the daughter of John Bibb and Mary Horst Bibb.

On April 14, 1956, in Crothersville she married Marion Rice and he survives.

Other survivors include daughters, Elaine Fraser, Marcia Rice-Fleetwood, Charlotte Rice, and Wanda (Mike) Wooddell; sons, Alan (Crystal) Jones, Mark Rice, and Kyle (Kayla) Coleman; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister, Sallie (Bibb) Emily; and brothers, Bernard (Joanne), William (Shelby), and Paul Johnson Jr.

Mrs. Rice was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Juanita (Johnson) Vice and Carolyn (Johnson) Ruddick; and brother, Clifford (Shirley) Bibb.

Memorial donations may be given through the funeral home to help with expenses.
