Mary Virginia Hartley, 99, of Vallonia died at 9:55 a.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at Hoosier Christian Village, Brownstown.
Funeral services were Saturday, November 30, 2019, at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia with Chris Criminger and Marvin Wright officiating.
Burial took place at the Vallonia Cemetery.
Mrs. Hartley was a 1937 graduate of Vallonia High School and graduated from Seymour Business College in 1938. She was a member of the Vallonia Christian Church and served many roles in their Christian Companions lady's group. She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter #264. Mrs. Hartley worked at Morgan Packing Company in Austin for seven years and the Citizens State Bank of Vallonia for 16 years.
Born March 26, 1920, in Medora, Mrs. Hartley was the daughter of Henry E. and Clara Geyer Slade. On April 13, 1941 in Vallonia, she married Cleo B. Hartley and he preceded her in death November 1, 1994.
Survivors include her children, Maryann (Marvin) Wright of Westport and John B. (Amy) Hartley of Vallonia; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hartley was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sisters, Delores Johnson and Janette Sullivan.
Memorial contributions may be given to Vallonia Christian Church Building Fund or to the Hoosier Christian Village Auxiliary.
