Mary K. Schleter, 88, Voss & Sons Funeral Service

Mary K. Schleter, 88, of Seymour died Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at Covered Bridge Health Campus. In Seymour.

Funeral services were at Voss & Sons Funeral Service. In Seymour Saturday, November 30, 2019, with Rev. Les Bearden and Rev. Michael Seaney officiating. Burial followed at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour.

Mrs. Schleter was a 1949 graduate of Shields High School. She worked at Capital Finance, Associate Finance, Moore Insurance Agency, and did all the bookkeeping for Quality Seed Company for 44 years. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church since 1955 where she served on many committees and sang in the choir for several years.

Mrs. Schleter had been a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary since 1981 and was a Schneck Medical Center Volunteer for 27 years. She and her husband were instrumental in starting the Farmers' Market in downtown Seymour and also was part of Schleter Produce on Schleter Road. Mrs. Schleter canned, froze, and baked everything that came from their garden. She loved working in her vegetable and flower gardens.

Born in Seymour, Mrs. Schleter was the daughter of Paul and Frances Ault Huber. On April 29, 1951, at First Methodist Church in Seymour, she married Donald L. Schleter and he survives.

In addition to her husband, survivors include sons, Donald Jr., Paul (Debi), and Michael (Terri) Schleter; grandchildren, Erin (Clay) Neeley and Greg (Amber), Amy (Mario Barrientos), Josh (Whitney), Ryan, and Jessie Schleter, and Jackie (Matt) Magill; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Mrs. Schleter was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Norman L. Huber; and sister, Irma H. Cooper.

Memorials may be written to Trinity United Methodist Church Improvement Fund, American Diabetes Association or Schneck Medical Center Guild, in care of the funeral home.
