Jonathan Leroy Hoover, 80, of Columbus died at 10 p.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2019, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 17, 2019, at Flintwood Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Wes Jones, Rev. Paul Blair, Rev. Keith Wilson and Rev. Glenn Poynter officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service Thursday, October 17, 2019, at the church. Inurnment at a later date will be at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus. Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home in Columbus was entrusted with arrangements.
Mr. Hoover retired from the Golden Foundry after 33 years of service. After his retirement, he enjoyed cooking for Broad Acres Restaurant in North Vernon and Cummins Engine Company through Aramark. Mr. Hoover was a member of Flintwood Wesleyan Church and attended Trinity Baptist Church when in Tennessee.
Born August 10, 1939, in Columbus, Mr. Hoover was the son of Henry and Marie McKinney Hoover. He married Kathy Johns June 1, 1980.
Survivors include his wife; children, Irvin (Becky Vires) Hoover of Greensburg, Allen (Melody) Hoover of Hope, Rita (Jeff) Huddleston of Elizabethtown, James (Joanna Monroe) and Jonathan Hoover, both of Columbus, and Anna (Andy) Walter of Clarksville, Tennessee; brother, David (Sue) Hoover of Columbus; and sisters, Delilah Ogle and Martha Ness, both of Columbus, Rebecca (Pete) Graham and Naomi (George) Frazee, both of North Vernon, Leah (Veral) Jackson of Brown County, and Mary (David) Sharpe of Taylorsville; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Mr. Hoover was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Wanda Hoover.
