Wanda Mae Hunt Imel, 64, of Madison died Friday, September 13, 2019, at 2:13 p.m. at University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. Interment will follow at Caledonia Cemetery near Moorefield. Friends may visit Tuesday, September 17, 2019, from 3 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
Mrs. Imel had been a 25 year employee of the Madison State Hospital having worked as a psychiatric attendant and as a BHRA. Early in life she worked at Meyer's Manufacturing in downtown Madison. Mrs. Imel loved living on the creek near Manville and caring for her farm animals. She also enjoyed feeding the birds, gardening, yard sales, going to the boat, and her dog. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Madison and was also a member of the Old Eagle's Lodge and Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Born May 23, 1955, in Madison, Mrs. Imel was the daughter of John Edward Sr. and Ethel Clymree Montgomery Hunt. She married Gary Wayne Imel in Madison and he survives.
Other survives include her children, Glenn (Jennifer Wilhelm) Lewis of Kent, Crystal Lewis-Youngblood, Justin (Tracy) and Derek Imel, both of Madison, and Cassidy Tolliver of Milton, Kentucky; grandchildren, Tyler, Billy, Kaitlyn, Collin, Taylor, jay, and Kimber; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Diane (Danny) Harris of Versailles, Velma (Shannon) Meadows and Debra Cassidy, both of Madison, Inez (Rick) Shouse of Butlerville, Linda (Bill) Schroeder of Sales, Teresa (Junior) Morris of Canaan, and Wilma (Ron) Weber of Osgood; brothers, Michael (Michelle) and John E. Hunt, Jr. both of Madison, Clyde (Dena) Hunt of Milton, Kentucky, and Jerry (Jennifer) Hunt of Warsaw, Kentucky, John (Angie) Hunt of Greensburg, and Darrell (Wendy) Hunt of Indianapolis.
Mrs. Imel was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Mark C. Hunt; and sisters, Brenda and Marilyn Hunt.
Memorial contributions may be made to Caledonia Cemetery or the Caledonia Presbyterian Church through the funeral home.
