Michael "Mike" Tech Jordan, 75, of Seymour died Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.

Funeral services were Monday, September 9, 2019, at the funeral home with Rev. Michael Riggins officiating. Burial, with full military honors provided by the military department of the Indiana Ceremonial Unit, followed at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour. Voss & Sons Funeral Service in Seymour was entrusted with arrangements.

Mr. Jordan was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon and Elder. He retired after 40 years of service from the Indiana National Guard. He received the Sagamore of the Wabash award, given to those who have rendered distinguished service to the state, from Governors Orr, Bayh, and Kernan. A former employee of Fidelity Federal and Home Federal, Mr. Jordan was owner of Jordan Appraisal Group, providing residential appraisals for local lenders.

He served the City of Seymour as District 5 Councilman for 32 years, was President of the Common Council for 20 years, was the only president of the Seymour Redevelopment Commission, and served on the state Water Pollution Control Board for 15 years, 12 of those years as chairman. In addition, he served on numerous boards throughout the Seymour community, including Works & Plan Commission, Freeman Army Airfield Museum Board, Jackson County Chapter of the American Red Cross and Girls, Inc. Mr. Jordan was also a member of American Legion, Seymour Elks Lodge and the Columbia Club.

Born in Seymour, Mr. Jordan was the son of Kes and Betty Jordan of North Vernon. On November 15, 1968, he married Linda Butler and she survives.

In addition to his wife, survivors include sons, Joel (Rachele) and Brent (Rev. Shellie Riggs) Jordan; grandchildren, Gabriel and Casey Jordan and Blake and Allison Hopkins; and a sister, Jane (Mike) Graham.

Mr. Jordan was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ted Jordan.

Memorials may be written to Don and Dana Meyers Cancer Center, Freeman Field Airfield Museum or First Presbyterian Youth, in care of the funeral home.
