Larry Gene Pettit, 65, of Madison died Saturday, August 10, 2019, at 6:06 p.m. at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 17, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. Pastor John Dailey will officiate. Visitation will be Friday, August 16, 2019, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, August 17, 2019, from 9 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
Mr. Pettit was a 1972 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School. He had been raised on a farm near San Jacinto and had worked as an operation's supervisor at Indiana Kentucky Electric Corporation retiring in 2012 after nearly 30 years of service. He had also been a camp ranger for the Girl Scout Camp Whippoorwill for nearly 28 years. Mr. Pettit enjoyed working with his sons with Pettit Group and loved the outdoors. He loved riding his motorcycle and Polaris Ranger/RZR as well as tinkering on things and hunting.
Born December 26, 1953, in San Jacinto, Mr. Pettit was the son of Charles Samuel "Sam" and Isabelle "Peg" Ann Harrison Pettit. He married Debbie Davis. Then married Kimberly Jo Elston and she survives.
Other survivors include sons, Rodney (Kami), Joe (Sunny Bear), and Jacob Pettit, all of Madison; grandchildren, Taylor, Collin, Kyle, Aiden, Blake, Coen, Paige, Mason, Ryan, Logan, Jackson, Cameron, and Avery; brother, Petty Pettit of Dupont; and sisters, Rose Anna (Michael) Leach of Dupont and Dr. Rhonda Pettit of Woodstock, Georgia.
Mr. Pettit was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerry Lee "Spanky" Pettit.
Memorial contribution may be made through the funeral home to Camp Whippoorwill-Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana.
