Charlie Spicer, 80, Collins Funeral Home

Charlie Spicer, 80, of Scottsburg died Thursday, August 8, 2019, at in his residence.

Funeral services were Monday, August 12, 2019, at First Christian Church with burial at Scottsburg Cemetery. Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg was entrusted with arrangements.

Mr. Spicer was a heavy equipment operator for the old Irby Construction in Dyesburg, Tennessee and the old Tom Everitt Construction Company. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Scottsburg and loved to fish. He also enjoyed woodworking.

Born April 23, 1939, in Perry County, Kentucky, Mr. Spicer was the son of Harlan and Rosie Stidham Spicer.

Survivors include his wife, Mae West Spicer; daughters, Clarissa (Eddie) Rose of Austin and Caroline Spicer-Miller of Louisville, Kentucky; stepdaughters, Rhonda (Glenn) Everhart of Bedford and Donna (John) Miner of Austin; stepson, Arlie Fugate of Scottsburg; brothers, David, Ray, Don, and Lionel Spicer all of Gays Creek, Kentucky and Clint Spicer of Chavies, Kentucky; sisters, Stella Sandlin of Carrollton, Kentucky, Mary Jane Edwards of Commiskey, and Sarah Sandlin, Lillie Davidson, Vonda Griffith, and Anna Napier, all of Gays Creek, Kentucky;
grandchildren, Travis (Nolie) and Devin (Jamie) Rose, Michael (Haley) and Carley Thomas, Shawn and Stephen Spicer, Chad (Kayla) and Cara Glenn, Robert Fugate, Jenna Elam, Natasha (Justin) Richie, and Jeremy Spicer; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Spicer was preceded in death by his parents; son, Curtis Spicer; stepson, Robert Fugate; and a brother, Mark Spicer.

Memorial contributions may be given to the First Christian Church in care of the funeral home.
