Gerald N. Amick, 89, of North Vernon died at 4:40 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019, at Brown County Health and Living in Nashville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Terry and Jeff Amick will officiate. Burial, with military services by the U.S. Navy, will be at the Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at the funeral home.
Mr. Amick graduated from Scottsburg High School in 1947, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served on the USS Valley Forge. He attended Trinity Bible College for one year and had served as a former deacon at Scaffold Lick Baptist Church. Mr. Amick had owned Amick Motors for 53 years, was an avid IU basketball fan, and enjoyed friends and talking with people.
Born September 1, 1929, in Scottsburg, Mr. Amick was the son of Frederick and Frances Dismore Amick. He married Nancy Olmstead and she survives.
In addition to his wife, survivors include sons, Terry (Pamela) Amick of Scottsburg, Jeff (Angie) Amick of Lexington, and Tyler "T.J." Amick of North Vernon; daughter, Jill (Don) Collins of Lexington; brother, William "Bill" Amick of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren, Andrew, Matt, Kylie, Josh, and Elyse Amick, and Ashley, Gavin, and Mia Collins; and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Amick was preceded in death by his parents; son, Todd Amick; and brother, Michael D. Amick.
