Ruth Irene Knoy Boardman, 95, of North Vernon died Monday, April 8, 2019. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2019, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service with Rev. Richard Burcham officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Sunday, April 14, 2019, from 11 a.m. until time of services. Burial will at Vernon Cemetery.
Mrs. Boardman graduated from Salem High School in 1942 and had worked at L.S. Ayres Tearoom in downtown Indianapolis. She worked in a "war plant" on the eastside at a time when women were entering the work force in great numbers. She enjoyed cooking and reading, watching golf tournaments on TV and was an avid fan of popular cooking shows.
Born January 23, 1924, in Salem Mrs. Boardman was the daughter of Harry and Emma Zink Knoy. She married Cecil Harold Boardman April 7, 1944, and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Larry Boardman of Englewood, Florida, Barry Boardman of Indianapolis, Mark Boardman of North Vernon, and Tim (Lisa) Boardman of Austin, Texas; grandson, Noah; a great-granddaughter; and a great-great-grandson; and a brother, Don (Naomi) Knoy.
Mr. Boardman was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Franklin, Marie, Opal, Victor, and Geraldine; a granddaughter, Debra Bowling; and a great-grandson, Luke Holman.
Memorials may be made at the funeral home to the Cecil H. Boardman Skilled Trades Memorial Scholarship Fund through the Jennings Community Foundation.
