Orell Hampton, 82, of Westport died at 3:37 a.m. Saturday, February 9, 2019, at his residence.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastor Dale Lucas officiating. Burial, with military graveside rites, will follow at Westport Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Monday, February 11, 2019, from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be a Masonic Memorial service at 7:30 p.m.
Mr. Hampton had been a Westport resident since 1980. He was a graduate of Whitesburg High School in Kentucky and retired from Cummins Engine Co. in 1990 after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Westport Masonic Lodge # 52 F.& A.M. and was a veteran having served with the U.S. Army. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Born November 7, 1936, in Whitesburg, Kentucky, Mr. Hampton was the son of Patrick and Callie Gilley Hampton. He married Mary E. Cash in Tennessee August 18, 1984, and she survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Teresa (Tom) Banister of Columbus; son, Randy (Shannon) Hampton of Columbus; stepson, Richie (Trinda) Tungate of Westport; brother, Steve Hampton of Westport; and nine grandchildren.
Mr. Hampton was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Arvis and Emery Hampton and Telmage Clem.
