Urban Joseph Johannigman, Sr., 91, of Decatur County died Saturday, February 2, 2019, at Heritage House Nursing Home in Greensburg.
A Rosary Service will start at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg followed by visitation until 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Millhousen with Rev. John Geis officiating. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in Millhousen.
Mr. Johannigman was a farmer his entire life. He also raised horses and bluetick hounds and played in several different bands over the last 50 years. He was a former member of the National Farmer's Association, and a member of the Knights of St. John and the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, both in Millhousen.
Born, September 24, 1927, in Millhousen Mr. Johannigman was the son of Mathias and Cecilia Thole Johannigman. He married Marjorie C. Veerkamp October 19, 1949, and she preceded him in death June 19, 2010.
Survivors include his children; Betty (Richard) Silcox of Greenfield, Margaret Ledford and Darlene (Robert) Engleking, both of Charlottesville, Donna (Raymond) Schwering of Westport, Marilyn (Paul) and Janet (Mark) Bedel, both of Hamburg, Cathy (Ambrose) Bedel of Greensburg, Urban (Kimberly) Jr. and Laura Lynn Johannigman, both of Greensburg, Charles (Cheryl) Johannigman of Millhousen, and Dottie (Ken) Hellmich of Osgood; brother, Roman Johannigman of Millhousen; sister, Carolyn Gallagher of Beech Grove; 26 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Johannigman was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Justin Johannigman; and grandchildren, Dennis Bedel and Charles Johannigman, Jr.
