William H. Austin, 66, Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre

William Henry "Bill" Austin, 66, Madison died Sunday, January 6, 2019, at 5 p.m. at King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison.

Funeral services will be Saturday, January 12, 2019, at 7 p.m. at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. Visitation will be Saturday, January 12, 2019, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Austin had worked at Arvin Industries in North Vernon and retired as a self-employed carpenter. He was baptized at Bethany Baptist Church near Deputy. Mr. Austin enjoyed gardening, canning, fishing, woodworking, hanging with his friends playing poker, and his dogs. He was a member at Major Samuel Woodfill Post 9 Sons of the American Legion, Sons of the Madison VFW Post No. 1969, and a former member of the Madison Eagles Lodge.

Born June 24, 1952, in Bean Blossom, Mr. Austin was the son of Henry and Minnie Mae Smith Austin. He married Anita Jean Cyrus in 1970. He then married Cindy Lee Shelley January 28, 1993, and she survives.

Other survivors include Billy (Chanda) Austin of Madison; daughters, Rhonda J.D.) Jones of Milton, Kentucky, and Tabatha (Cody) Schafer of Madison; grandchildren, Cynthia, Rayne, Alex, and Trenton Austin, Kayla and Dylan Jones, and Addison and Emery Schafer; a great-grandchild; brothers, Benny (Ethel) and David (Faith) Austin, both of Lexington, J.D. Charles (Arlene) Austin of Indianapolis, J.D. and Mark Austin, both of Paris Crossing, and Bob (Bev) Austin of St. Cloud, Florida; and sisters, Irene Barger and Pat (Tony) Fletcher, both of Lexington, Judy (Wayne) Hiler and Jane (Bob) Burris, of Bullhead, Arizona, Ada (David) Bear of Madison, Carolyn (Bob) Sipe of Scottsburg, and Robin Pruitt of Nacogdoches, Texas.

Mr. Austin was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jerry Austin; and brothers, Kenny and Glenn Austin.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bill Austin Remembrance Fund through the funeral home.
