Charles Butler Baldinger, 29, of Nashville, Tennessee, died Sunday, January 6, 2019.
To honor and celebrate Mr. Baldinger's life, a time of visitation will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2019, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Saint Matthew Catholic Church in Franklin, Tennessee. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 10, 2019, with a funeral mass to be held at 11:30 a.m., all at the church. Burial, with military honors, will be at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery Monday, January 14, 2019, at 10 a.m. Austin Funeral Service in Nashville, Tennessee, was entrusted with arrangements.
Mr. Baldinger was a graduate of St. Henry School, Father Ryan High School in Nashville, Tennessee, and the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. After being diagnosed and treated for cancer in 2010, he returned to West Point to graduate. He subsequently achieved a Master's Degree in both nutrition and exercise science from Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee. For the past 1.5 years, Mr. Baldinger conducted neuroscience research with Blythe Corbett, PH.D. in the SENSE Lab at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, Tennessee, and recently co-authored a paper on children with autism spectrum disorder.
Survivors include his wife, Allyson; unborn son, Connor Michael; parents, Paul and Kimber Baldinger; siblings, Jim, Robert, and Joseph Baldinger, and Ellen Baldinge Gerringer; and grandfather, Robert Butler. Mr. Baldinger was preceded in death by grandparents, James and Edith Baldinger and Dixie Lee F. Butler.
