Sheri Lou Anderson, 57 a defender civil rights
Sheri Lou Anderson, 57, of Marietta, Georgia, formerly of Columbus, died Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at her home.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at Second Baptist Church in Columbus with the Rev. Larry Rowe officiating. Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of services Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at the church. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus. Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home in Columbus was entrusted with arrangements.
Ms. Anderson was a 1979 graduate of Columbus North High School. She studied at Indiana State University and moved to Atlanta in 1985 where she was project manager for Sprint. Ms. Anderson was affiliated with Dress for Success, Teach a Child to Fish, Simply United Together, The Fountain of Hope & New Order National Human Rights Organization, Women's Advocate for New Order National Human Rights Organization, Open Hand Atlanta. She believed strongly in supporting the civil rights of others and was an action-oriented problem-solver. Ms. Anderson was a member of World Changers Church in Norcross, Georgia.
Born September 5, 1960, in Owenton, Kentucky, Ms. Anderson was the daughter of Arthur C. and Mable M. Tolliver Anderson.
Survivors include a son, Dejon (Brittany) Anderson Miller of Atlanta, Georgia; stepson, Jamahl (Holly) Miller of Georgia; step-grandsons, Keith and Jackson Miller; siblings, Sarah (Roderick) Jewel of New Albany and Timothy K. and Mark A. Anderson, both of Columbus.
Ms. Anderson was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Leroy Young; and a brother, Charles A. Anderson.
