Mildred Kiel, 102, was active S'mour volunteer
Mildred Kiel, 102, of Seymour died at Lutheran Community Home in Seymour Thursday, August 2, 2018.
Memorial services were conducted by Voss & Sons Funeral Service at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour Monday, August 6, 2018, with Rev. Ralph Blomenberg, Rev. Philip Bloch, and Rev. Jimmy Rodriguez officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour at a later date.
Mrs. Kiel graduated from Immanuel Lutheran School and Seymour High School. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour where she was a member of Ladies Aid 1 and 2. Mrs. Kiel was also active in various church and community organizations, volunteering at the Community Care Center, Lutheran Community Home, and Heritage House. She retired from Tiemeier's Jewelry Store after 25 years of service.
Born in Seymour December 6, 1915, Mrs. Kiel was the daughter of Walter and Clara (Kriete) Ahlbrand. On July 5, 1936, she married Gerald Kiel and he preceded her in death in November 1995.
Survivors include a daughter, Doris (Gary) Doyle; son, Dan (Karen) Kiel; grandchildren, Joe (Angie) Doyle, Pam (Rick) Knotts, Narci, Julie, and Lori Kiel, and Karrie (Randy) Boatwright; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a great-great-great-grandchild.
Mrs. Kiel was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Louis, Chester, Armin, Hobert, Glen, and Dale Ahlbrand; and sisters, Doris Greene, and Roberta and Bernice Ahlbrand.
The family requests memorials be written to Immanuel Lutheran School, Trinity Lutheran High School, Lakeview Ministries, Lutheran Community Home or charity of choice, c/o the funeral home.
