Cecelia V. Pettit, 82, was active in the local GOP

Cecelia V. Pettit, 82, of Seymour died at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2018, at Covered Bridge Health Campus in Seymour.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service with Rev. Bob Ochs and Rev. Philip Elliot officiating. Family and friends may call Tuesday, June 12, 2018, from 2 until 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.

Mrs. Pettit had been an office worker at Cummins and a bookkeeper at Just Rite Supermarket. She was a member of the Tea Creek Baptist Church, the Muscatatuck Moderns, and was active in the Republican Party. Mrs. Pettit enjoyed flowers, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Born May 18, 1936, in Jennings County, Mrs. Pettit was the daughter of Charles and Clara Ethel Short Vogel. She married Kent Miller July 24, 1954 and he preceded her in death February 10, 1988. Mrs. Pettit married Dale L. Pettit September 26, 1992, at North Vernon Methodist Church and he survives.

In addition to her husband, survivors include sons Ken (Linda) Pettit of Madison, and Doug (Della) Miller and Jim (Amy) Pettit, both of North Vernon; daughters Cheryl (Greg) McConnell of Fountain Hill, Arizona, Julie (Darrel) Kemmerer of North Vernon, and Susan (C.D.) Kinney of Paris Crossing; 24 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and first husband, Mrs. Pettit was preceded in death by a brother, Harlan Vogel; an infant daughter, Dana Miller; and a son, David Pettit.
