Joseph D. Taylor, 73, of G'burg graduate of SHS

Joseph D. Taylor, 73, of Greensburg died at 6:05 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2018, at Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Rev. Robb Barlow officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 3 until 7 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2018. Burial will be at Union Baptist Cemetery with military graveside rites.

Mr. Taylor graduated from Sandcreek High School in 1962 and had worked for the City of Greensburg at the wastewater plant since 1988. He was a member of the Union Baptist Church, Greensburg American Legion Post, Eagles Lodge at Greensburg, and the Southern Indiana Operators Association. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing and NASCAR racing. Mr. Taylor had coached in youth baseball and football leagues.

Born October 30, 1944 at New Castle, Mr. Taylor was the son of Mark C. and Ruth McVey Taylor. He married Teresa "Kathy" Gommel Taylor at Greensburg Christian Church April 25, 1969. She preceded him in death November 12, 2014.

Survivors include sons, Joseph D. II and Joshua M. Taylor, both of Greensburg, Eric J. Taylor of Orlando, Florida, and Jeremy (Brandy) Taylor of Milroy; brother, Barney Taylor of Columbus; sister, Sara Biedess of Fort Wayne; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Anne Taylor; brothers, Mark and John Taylor; and granddaughter, Jerica Linville.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
