David John Hankins, 71 of Vevay had sister here
David John Hankins, 71, of Vevay died Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at his home.
Funeral services were Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Burial followed at Vevay Cemetery.
Mr. Hankins was a 1963 graduate of Vevay High School. He worked at Cummins Engine Company, Inc. in Columbus and later for Dow Corning in Carrollton, Kentucky. He owned and operated DAMAR in Vevay from 1987 to 2001. Mr. Hankins was a mail carrier for the Vevay post office from 2001 to 2005. With his son, Mr. Hankins also owned and operated C&D Auto Sales in Madison for the past 20 years. He was a member of the Switzerland Masonic Lodge No.122 F&AM and was a member of Ruter Chapel United Methodist Church and attended Switzerland Baptist Church. Mr. Hankins enjoyed spending time and socializing with his children, his grandchildren, and great-granddaughter, flying airplanes in Florida, watching his children and grandchildren play sports, and watching NASCAR.
Mr. Hankins was born May 30, 1946, in Madison, the son of Paul David and Pearl Margaret Gwendolene Lawes Hankins. He married Marcell Bolton June 30, 1964.
Survivors include sons, David and Cory J. Hankins, both of Vevay; sisters, Sandy Ellegood of Vevay and Tammy Works of North Vernon; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Mr. Hankins was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Anthony "Tony" Hankins.
