Rosemary York, 81, Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home

Rosemary York, 81 retired from nursing

Rosemary York, 81, of North Vernon died Saturday, February 10, 2018, at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital.

A Celebration of Life will be held at later date. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Mrs. York was a 1955 graduate of Cross Plains High School and 1983 graduate of Ivy Tech in Columbus where she earned her LPN. She was an attendant for 17 years at Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville, and had worked as an LPN for several years in nursing homes, retiring in 2013 from North Vernon Nursing Home. Mrs. York was a member of Second United Methodist Church in North Vernon and a past president and member of American Legion Post #173 Ladies Auxiliary in Versailles and a former owner of Rainbow Ceramics in North Vernon. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, antiques, ceramics and pottery, reading, and going to the Smokey Mountains.

Born January 10, 1937, in Ripley County, Mrs. York was the daughter of Ned and Geneva Stacy Grigsby. She married Garnett York June 9, 1973 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee and he survives.

In addition to her husband, survivors include sons, Matt Adkins of North Vernon, Ronnie (Ann) Adkins of North Carolina, Keith (girlfriend, Lisa) York of Bloomington, and Eric (Norma) York of Phelan, California; daughters, Kathy (Luther) Houser and Jenieve York both of North Vernon and Mary Frances York of Marysville; five brothers; four sisters; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. York was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Terry Adkins and Garnett York, Jr.; four brothers; four sisters; and two great-grandchildren, Jesie Rena Clayton and Taylor Adkins.

Memorials to the American Heart Associa-tion or Alzheimer's Association.
