George W. Klein, 67, of Madison died Sunday, January 7, 2018, at 4:50 p.m. at King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison.
Funeral Mass will be Friday, January 12, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Madison. Father Christopher A. Craig will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery in Madison. Friends may call Thursday, January 11, 2018, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday, January 12, 2018, from 9 until 10:30 a.m. at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home Thursday, January 11, 2018.
Mr. Klein, a 1968 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School, had worked in nuclear construction in Michigan and at Regal Rugs in North Vernon. He retired from Kentucky Utilities Ghent Plant as a unit operator after 20 years of service and then worked at Lowe's in shipping and receiving, retiring in 2014. Mr. Klein was a member of the Madison Jaycees, the Knights of Columbus, the No. 4 Fire Department, Sons of the American Legion Jefferson Post 9, the Madison Elks Club No. 524, and the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. He enjoyed woodworking, watching old Westerns, cooking shows, and socializing with family and friends.
Born September 30, 1950, in Munich Germany, Mr. Klein was the son of George Fritz and Marianna Dana Johann Klein. He married Gail Campbell October 30, 1970, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Madison. He then married Nancy Tucker January 6, 1979, in Madison. He then married Debra Lynn Logsdon April 23, 1983, in Tennessee and she preceded him in death August 30, 2006.
Other survivors include his son, Jeffrey (Bobbie) Klein of Madison; daughter, Amy (George) Owen, of Madison; stepson, Justin (Stacy) Pettit of Beulaville, North Carolina; grandchildren, Graham, Garrett, Dalton, and Taylor; and sisters, Suzi (Andy) Ashbury and Jeanine (Bobby) Little, both of Madison.
Mr. Klein was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a granddaughter, Hannah Klein.
