Jerry Lee Shepherd, Sr. was active in Shriners
Jerry Lee Shepherd, Sr., 78, of North Vernon died at 12:48 a.m. Friday, December 1, 2017, at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Tom Mattingly will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 11, 2017. Masonic services will be conducted at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.
Mr. Shepherd, a 1958 graduate of Dupont High School, had worked at Cummins Engine Company as a lab technician. He enjoyed fishing and was a member of the Dupont Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Rolling Hills Shriners, and Murat Temple.
Born August 26, 1939, in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, Mr. Shepherd was the son of George and Ruby Thorpe Shepherd. He married Ida Jean Payton December 28, 1958. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Jerry (Marie) Shepherd, Jr. of North Vernon; daughter, Teresa Shepherd of Crothersville; brother, Pete Shepherd of North Vernon; sisters, Linda Sedam of Madison and Shirley Herring of Columbus; grandchildren, Nathan, Hannah, Mike and Tonya Shepherd, Matt Browning and Missi Clouse; and ten great-grandchildren.
Mr. Shepherd was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gary Allen Shepherd; and a great-grandchild.
