Amy Ann Osting, 86, carried mail 23 years
Amy Ann Osting, 86, of Milan died at 1:46 p.m. Sunday, September 10, 2017, at Ripley Crossing Nursing Home in Milan.
Funeral services were Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Rev. Connie Barr officiating. Burial followed at Union Baptist Cemetery.
Mrs. Osting was a lifelong resident of Decatur County and had graduated from Greensburg High School in 1949. She worked as a waitress and was a rural mail carrier for 23 years. She also worked at the Ranch Super Market at Shelbyville in the office as a cashier for eight years. Mrs. Osting was a member of the Rural Carriers Association and the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church where she had served as a trustee. She enjoyed feeding birds, raccoons, and her cats. She also collected rocks and enjoyed flower gardening.
Born April 27, 1931, in Decatur County, Mrs. Osting was the daughter of Walter B. and Roxie C. Mozingo Reed. She married Maurice Osting at the Greenburg Baptist Parsonage on April 14, 1950, and he preceded her in death October 25, 2001.
Survivors include a daughter, Maura Beth (Darryl) Lutes of Butlerville; sisters, Carol S. Reed of Bright and Marilyn Burton of Westport; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Osting was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Lynn Ellen England; and sister, Mary Jane Reed.
