James R. Wayman, 59 was active at church
James R. "Jim" Wayman, 59, of rural Norman died Sunday, September 10, 2017, at his home.
Services will be conducted by Pastors Floyd Fisher and Steve Greene at 7 p.m. Thursday, September 14, 2017, at The Point church in Seymour. Visitation will start at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 14, 2017, until time of services. Woodlawn Funeral Home in Seymour was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Wayman graduated from Purdue University in 1980 with a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. He then accepted a position at Houston Lighting and Power in Houston, Texas. In early 1989, he began working as a civil engineer with Bateman Engineering Company in Seymour and achieved his certificate as a land surveyor in the state of Indiana. He and his wife continued the business as Wayman & Associates in 2001 and he also served as city engineer for Seymour. Mr. Wayman was a member of Kurtz Church of the Nazarene and served as a trustee. He loved spending time with family, camping, hunting, fishing and enjoying water sports. He also enjoyed stargazing, woodworking and bird watching.
Born June 1, 1958, in Seymour, the son of Robert and Phyllis Mulberry Wayman, he married Connie Jo Robbins June 21, 1980. She survives.
In addition to his wife, survivors include children, Jennifer (Alan) Harris of Seymour, Emily (Miles) Moody of South Carolina, Bradley Wayman of Cin-cinnati, Ohio, Brian Wayman of Westport, Benjamin Wayman of Terre Haute, and Beth Anne Wayman of Clarksville; sisters, Jane (Dick) Parman of Brownstown and Janice (Monte) McKinney, S. Carolina.
Mr. Wayman was preceded in death by parents.
