June L. Mires, 99, of Columbus died at 1:25 p.m. Friday, July 14, 2017, at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation-Columbus.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at East Columbus United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Aigner officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home in Columbus and from 9:30 a.m. until time of services Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at the church.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Mrs. Mires was a lifelong member of East Columbus United Methodist Church. She also taught Sunday school for many years. Mrs. Mires loved to bowl and did so until about six years ago.
She also enjoyed spending time with family.
Born November 16, 1917, Mrs. Mires was the daughter of Everett Sr. and Daisy Chambers Butler. She married Curtis Mires in 1937.
Survivors include a son, Theron D. "Butch" Mires of Elizabethtown; daughters, Marilyn Kay Brown and Charlene L. (Larry) Burbrink, both of Columbus, and Janet Wiley of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Sheryl (Perry) Moore, Mark Sweeney, Laura (Larry) Guthrie, Clint (Sondie) Wiley, Rhonda (Tim) Blandford, Melinda (David) Foust, Theron L. (Jill) Mires, and Nathan (Joanne) Burbrink and Teresa Burbrink; 19 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren;
Mrs. Mires was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers, William, Theron, and Everett Butler Jr.
