Philip Lloyd Hamilton a fan of Indy 500 Race
Philip Lloyd Hamilton, 79, of Madison died Saturday, May 13, 2017, at 5:21 a.m. at his home.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 20, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. Pastor Ron Lee will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2017, and Saturday, May 20, 2017, from 10 a.m. until time of services. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Madison.
Mr. Hamilton had worked at Cummins Engine Company for over 30 years retiring from the Holset Plant. He then worked for Madison Walmart and as a delivery man with Indy Auto Parts. For 30 years, Mr. Hamilton worked at the Indy 500 Race and was a member of the Old Timer's Club. He was a member of the Diesel Workers Union and North Madison Baptist Church. He enjoyed collecting Studebaker automobiles, NASCAR and the Indy 500, John Wayne movies, and old country music.
Born November 29, 1937, in Canaan, Mr. Hamilton was the son of Everett and Freda Land Hamilton. He married Patricia P. Graves at North Madison Baptist Church December 28, 1955.
Survivors include his daughter, Deborah J. Hamilton Shelton of Madison; grandchildren, Tiffany McCleery, Melissa (Jon) Guzzo, and Allison Shelton; three great-grandchildren; and brother, Michael Hamilton of North Vernon.
Mr. Hamilton was preceded in death by parents; wife; son, David P. Hamilton; and half-sister, Marjorie McGee. Memorials to Kidney Foundation through the funeral home.
