Paul A. "Ray" Silvers, 74, of North Vernon died Saturday, May 13, 2017 at I.U. Health Methodist in Indianapolis.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2017, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Brother Ulanda Price officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Friday, May 19, 2017, from 10 a.m. until time of services. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery.
Mr. Silvers, a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, retired as a machine operator in 1988 from Oldin Brass in Indianapolis where he had worked for 15 years. He had previously worked for three years as a tour director for the Lexington Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky. Mr. Silvers was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Kidder, Kentucky. He enjoyed horses and coon and rabbit hunting.
Born October 20, 1942 in Burnside, Kentucky, Mr. Silvers was the son of Oscar and Sara Coomer Silvers. He married Dora Wilson on July 27, 1974 in Shelbyville. She survives.
In addition to his wife, survivors include sons, Tim (Rita) and Tony Horn, both of North Vernon, Gary Silvers of Indianapolis and Terry (Sherry) Horn of Rush-ville; a daughter, Connie Silvers of Somerset, Kentucky; brother, William Silvers of Delta, Kentucky; sister, Thelma Jones of Brownsburg; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Silvers was preceded in death by parents; son, Ricky Silvers; and sisters, Helen Gibson, Faye Howell, and Frances Silvers. Memorials through the funeral home to Our Hospice of Jennings County.
