Celia Ann Coomer helped start OVO in Scottsburg
Celia Ann Coomer, 74, of Scottsburg, died Thursday, March 16, 2017 at her residence.
Funeral services were Sunday, March 19, 2017, at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg. Burial at a later date will take place in New Providence Cemetery near Austin.
Mrs. Coomer helped start and was a director for the O.V.O Program in Scottsburg, where she had also been a van driver and head teacher. In addition, she had worked and retired from Travel Matic in Seymour. Mrs. Coomer graduated from Austin High School and was a member of the Ivy Hill Baptist Church near Underwood.
Born May 20, 1942 in Jackson, Kentucky, Mrs. Coomer was the daughter of Benjamin King and Roxie Frances King. She was married September 14, 1960 to Willie Coomer, Sr., who survives.
In addition to her husband, survivors include sons, Willie Jr., Benjamin, and Steven Coomer, all of Scottsburg; daughter, Teresa C. White of Scottsburg; brothers, Robert Conrad "RC" (Betsy) King of North Vernon and Benny (Sandy) King of Austin; sister, Janet (Joe) Eurton of Borden; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Coomer was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Raymond, Donald, and Danny King; and a grandson, Nathan Spicer.
Memorials may be made to her family in care of the funeral home.
