Lester E. Perkinson, 89 a fan of racing, wrestling
Lester E. Perkinson, 89, of Elizabethtown died at his home Friday, March 17, 2017.
Funeral services were Monday, March 20, 2017, at the Sandcreek-Azalia Friends Meetinghouse with Pastors Peggy Caldwell and Fred Darling officiating. Burial took place at Azalia Friends Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.
Mr. Perkinson was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He loved family, children, gardening, Tony Stewart racing, and Columbus East and North wrestling. Mr. Perkinson retired from Hamilton Cosco and was, for many years, the treasurer of the Sandcreek-Azalia Friends Meetinghouse.
Born June 25, 1926, in Lexington, Mr. Perkinson was the son of Charlie and Daisy LaMaster Perkinson. He married Lillie M. Petty on June 25, 1948. She survives.
In addition to his wife, other survivors include a sister, Juanita Owens; sons, Larry (Julie), Gene (Susan) and Lester (Kelly) Perkinson; daughters, Linda Perkinson and Lynnette (David) Krueger; grandchildren, Charity Bateman, Kara Lay, Michelle (Ben) Rooks, Josh, Amanda, Kristina, Hannah, and Leland (Shannon) Perkinson, Jr., Ben (Katie) Krueger, Myra (Justin) Sims, and Loretta and Renata Mize; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Perkinson was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Brenda Kay; brothers, Charles, Robert, and Claude Perkinson; sister, Helen Stoner; and granddaughter, April Perkinson.
Memorials may be made to Sandcreek-Azalia Friends Church or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana through the funeral home.
