Richard Cleo Robbins, Sr., 76, Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home

Richard Cleo Robbins, Sr. retiree of water company

Richard Cleo "Dick" Robbins, Sr., 76 of Seymour died at 2:20 p.m. Friday, March 17, 2017 at his residence.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 23, 2017, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services with the Rev. Tim Douglas officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 2 p.m. until time of services.

Mr. Robbins worked for the Labor Union for 10 years and had retired from Jackson County Water Company where he had worked as a meter reader. He had also previously worked for Reddington Grocery where he performed maintenance. Mr. Robbins was a member of Seymour Community Church and enjoyed drinking coffee, going to auctions, scrapping and odd jobs, and watching llamas. He also enjoyed spending time with friends and family and his dogs.

Born September 6, 1940 in Elwood, Mr. Robbins was the son of Marshel and Genevia Hyatt Robbins. He married Katherine White December 8, 1973 in Seymour and she survives.

In addition to his wife, survivors include sons, Richard (Lori) Robbins, Jr. of Seymour and Stanley Robbins of Scottsburg; daughters, Tina (Ralph) Day-Porter of Lovett, Tammy (Brad) Wilson-Reed of Scipio, Teri Sullivan of Dothan, Alabama, and Billie (Marty) Reynolds of Seymour; sisters, Elizabeth Anne Leaver of Anderson and Ruby Hall of Seymour; grandchildren, Heather Reed-Leslie and Robert B. Reed, both of Scipio, Helen (Conrad) Rosenbrock of Colorado, Christina (Chris) Cook of Kentucky, Timothy and Benjamin Roberts, both of Seymour, Sonni (Blake) Reed-Robbins of Hayden, and Jera (Casey) Reed-Shelton of North Vernon; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Robbins was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Alfred Robbins; and sisters, Lucille Bannister and Helen Vandiver.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home for expenses.
