Ralph Cornett of W'port was an avid storyteller
Ralph Cornett, 82, of Westport died at 11:43 a.m. Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Crown Point Assisted Living, in Greens-burg.
Funeral services were Wednesday at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Burial was at Rock Creek Cemetery in Westport with full military honors.
Mr. Cornett, a Korean Conflict veteran, joined the army when he was 17 where he served in the Old Guard Company at Fort Belvoir Virginia that performs at funeral ceremonies at the Arlington National Cemetery. He worked 45 years at Bohn Aluminum in Greensburg, retiring in 1999 and enjoyed mole hunting, putting together puzzles, and working outdoors. Mr. Cornett was an avid storyteller and loved talking to others, hunting and reading.
Born February 29, 1932, in Letcher County, Kentucky, Mr. Cornett was the son of Clifton and Drinda Caudill Cornett. He married Mary Vanosdol, on October 23, 1954, and she survives.
Additional survivors include his son, Robb Cornett; and four grandchildren, Kylie, Matthew, Emily, and Reagan; brothers, Richard (Janie) Cornett of Crothersville and David (Sue) Cornett of Kentucky; sisters, Maxine Sexton of Kentucky, Susie (Larry) Williams of Seymour, and Martha (Jim) Coate of Kentucky.
In addition to parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Eugene, Kenis, Paul, Stanley, and Phillip Cornett and sisters Sophia Hogg and Chelsie Daugherty.
