Alice Ann Briscoe, 89 was Foster Grandparent
Alice Ann Briscoe, 89, of Scipio died Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at Willow Crossing Health and Rehabilitation Center in Columbus.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Dennis Boggs will officiate. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery.
Mrs. Briscoe had been employed in hotel housekeeping. She worked in the Foster Grandparent Program for 15 years, working with special needs children. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness and enjoyed cooking and spending time with family.
Born February 2, 1925, in Indianapolis, Mrs. Briscoe was the daughter of the late Leslie and Iva Nichols Spillman. She married Loren Dale Briscoe November 21, 1943, and he preceded her in death September 23, 1976.
Survivors include four daughters, Sheila (Jimmie) Pitzer of Hayden, Nancy (Clay) Burton of Brewersville, Paula (Dennis) Niemeier of Winchester, Virginia, and Loretta Briscoe of Scipio; brother, Charles (Sandra) Spillman of Leesburg; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Briscoe was preceded in death by a grandson, Charles Yeager; brother, Harold Spillman; and sisters, Dorothy Fross and Betty Steen.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, Kingdom Hall, or Foster Grandparent Program.
