Barbara V. Short Witt, 67, of Deputy died Sunday, July 20, 2014, at 1:45 a.m. at King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison.
Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison with Pastor Mike Shuler officiating. Calling will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lick Branch Cemetery near Deputy.
Mrs. Witt was a 1964 graduate of Deputy High School. She retired after 30 years of service with Reliance Electric Company as an assembler. She was a member of the Solid Rock Community Church near Deputy. Mrs. Witt enjoyed visiting with family and friends, playing cards, shopping, and spending time with her great-granddaughter.
Born October 22, 1946, in Closplint, Kentucky, Mrs. Witt was the daughter of Roy and Loeta Mae Huff Short. She married Archie E. Witt December 27, 1963, in Madison and he survives.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Lisa McCane of Deputy; grandson, Adam McCane; great-granddaughter, Nicole Stephan; sisters, Debbie Short of Deputy and Tammy Halcomb of Madison; and brothers, Gary Lee Short, Sr., of Deputy and Jimmy (Sandy) Short of Deputy.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Witt was preceded in death by a son, Michael Keith Witt; sister, Betty Elaine Carter; brothers, David Wayne, Billy, Tommy, Rick, and Jack Short; and grandparents, Briscoe and Leatha Huff and George and Della Short.
