Richard K Watterson, Sr., 71

Richard K. Watterson, Sr. was a long time farmer

Richard K. Watterson, Sr., 71, of Hanover died Thursday, Jun 26, 2014, at 6:15 p.m. at Hope Hospice of North Fort Myers, Florida.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 pm. at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison with Pastor Troy Hedges officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 12 noon until 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Grandview Memorial Gardens near Madison.

Mr. Watterson attended school in Hanover. He was a retired farmer and heavy equipment operator and had also worked for Farm Bureau Co-op and Martin Marietta Gravel Company. Mr. Watterson was a member of the First Baptist Church in Madison and Bayshore Community Chapel in Florida. He enjoyed farming and socializing.

Born November 8, 1942, in Madison, Mr. Watterson was the son of Alvis and Aldean Weatherbee Watterson. He married Bertha Lois Aldridge on July 6, 1959 and she preceded him in death November 29, 1993. He then married Helen Means on July 17, 1997, and she died September 20, 2008.

Survivors include sons, Donnie (Chrissy) Watterson of Hanover, Mike Watterson of Cleveland, Ohio, and Rick Watterson of Madison; daughter, Debbie (Greg) Duncan of Madison, stepsons, David E. and Roger D. Aldridge, both of Madison; stepdaughter, Teresa L. Jones of Madison; grandchildren, Christina, Fallon, Cody, Tyler, Travis, Matthew, Jennifer, Kathy and Maggie; 17 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and brothers, Jack and Don (Mary) Watterson, both of Hanover.

In addition to his parents and both wives, Mr. Watterson was preceded in death by brothers, Robert, Kenneth, and Bill Watterson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House through the funeral home.
