Gregory Lynn Gilbert, 58 formerly lived in Deputy
Gregory Lynn "Greg" Gilbert, 58, of Gratis, Ohio, and formerly of Deputy, died Thursday, July 10, 2014, at 1:30 p.m.
Funeral services were Monday at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison with Pastor Mike Shuler and Pastor Dave Bowling officiating. Burial was at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Madison.
Mr. Gilbert attended Madison Consolidated High School and had worked as a conductor for CSX Railroad for 33 years running the Louisville-Cincinnati line. He was a member of the Solid Rock Community Church near Deputy and the Dixie Highway Christian Center in Middletown, Ohio. Mr. Gilbert enjoyed playing golf, bass guitar, watching car racing and being with his family.
Born September 26, 1955, in Harlan, Kentucky, Mr. Gilbert was the son of Ernest Gilbert and Shirley Phillips Adams. He married Jenny Lynn Rigsby Gilbert and she survives.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his mother of Deputy; two daughters, Amber (John) White of Austin and Taiya (Willie) Foga of Austin; grandchildren, Madyson, Kenzie, Talan, Abree, and Sutton; stepson, Justin Newkirk of Gratis, Ohio; stepdaughter, Tara (Chad) Newport of West Alexandria, Ohio; step-grandchildren, Taybin, Tyler, Makiah, Corbin, and Gatlin; and sister, Angela (Pastor Mike) Shuler of Deputy; brother, Jeffrey (Cindy Adams) of Ryker's Ridge.
Mr. Gilbert was preceded in death by his father; and grandparents, Boyd and Martha Phillips and Felix and Maude Gilbert.
