Delmar L. Smith, 87, had operated B'ville business
Delmar L. Smith, 87, of Versailles died Sunday, July 13, 2014, at 2:24 p.m. at Versailles Fire & Rescue.
Funeral services were Wednesday at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison with Pastor Brian Teater officiating. Burial took place at Grandview Memorial Gardens near Madison.
Mr. Smith owned and operated a chicken farm near Butlerville for several years. He then built the Smith Feed Mill south of Versailles and operated it until 1973. He enjoyed playing the guitar in his early years, hunting, fishing, riding snowmobiles, boating, and traveling.
Born March 26, 1927, in Broadhead, Kentucky, Mr. Smith was the son of Russell and Fannie Brummett Smith. He married Patricia Ruth Brandon October 15, 1960, who preceded him in death on June 7, 2013.
Survivors include a daughter, Debra (Jerry) Walker of Versailles; stepson, Terry (Deborah) Stout of Atlanga, Georgia; grandchildren, Michelle Workman, Malinda (B.J.) Scott, Kinsey Stout, and Dakota (Kristen) Walker; and six grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by a stepson, Michael Stout; sisters, Vivian and Marie; and brothers, Millard, Virgil, Alfred, Alvin, Johnny, and Albert Smith.
