Paul Clay Cornett, 72 at Reliance 40 years
Paul Clay Cornett, 72, of North Vernon died at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at his residence.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services with the Brother Jim Fields officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4 until 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will be in the Hayden Cemetery.
Mr. Cornett was an electrician for Reliance Electric in Columbus retiring in 2002 after 40 years. He was a member of Old Regular Baptist Church in Milan and a former member of Big Creek Old Regular Baptist Church in Dupont and Old Regular Baptist Church in Otisco. He enjoyed gardening, reading the Bible and spending time with his grandchildren.
Born on July 16, 1941 in Hotspot, Kentucky, Mr. Cornet was the son of Clifton and Drinda Caudill Cornett. He married Betty Boddy on November 4, 1961 in Glennie, Michigan and she survives.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Darlis (Julie) Cornett of North Vernon; three daughters, Cindy (Raleigh) Barnes of Scipio, Rhonda (Bob) Joy of Columbus, and Lori (Mark) Nicodemus of Walton, Kentucky; brothers, David (Sue) Cornett of Jenkins, Kentucky, Ralph (Mary) Cornett of Westport, Richard (Janie) Cornett of Crothersville, and Kenis (Eileen) Cornett of North Vernon; sisters, Susie (Larry) Williams of Seymour and Maxine Sexton and Martha (Jim) Coate both of Uz, Kentucky; 11 grandchildren, Clinton, Chelsea, Conner, and Carson Vogel and Matthew Cornett all of North Vernon, Travis (Cheryl) Green, John and Marcus Stepper, Amber (Paul) Neff and Megan (Chase) Buchanan all of Columbus, Indiana and Crystal (Josh) Golden of Imlay, Michigan; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Cornett was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Stanley, Eugene and Phillip Cornett; and two sisters, Sophia Hogg and Chelsea Daugherty.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of Jennings County.
