Marvin D. Wolfe, 75, led an active and busy life

Marvin D. Wolfe, 75, of Seymour died at 2:13 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2014 at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home in Columbus with Pastor Van Breeding officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday. A Masonic memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery with full military rites.

Mr. Wolfe served in the Indiana Army National Guard and was the owner of Wolfe Electric in Columbus and retired after 41 years of service. He was also the electrician for the Bartholomew County Fairgrounds, co-owner of Karen's Kountry Krafter in Seymour, and the electrical supervisor for "House In A Day."

Mr. Wolfe was a 32nd degree Mason, was the Past Master of Alert Masonic Lodge and currently was a member of Hope Masonic Lodge No. 150 F&AM. He was a member of Columbus Elks Lodge where he was a previous Elk of the Year, a former member of Home Builders Association, the Chamber of Commerce, American Cancer Society board, the American Legion and a former foster parent. Mr. Wolfe was a member of Community Christian Church in Seymour where he served as elder and trustee and currently attended Mountain Baptist Church in Seymour.

Born in Bartholomew County December 26, 1938, Mr. Wolfe was the son of Ora E. and Ruth E. Guinn Wolfe. He married Karen M. Farmer Weller July 28, 2001 in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and she survives. In addition to his wife, survivors include sisters, Carolyn Terry of Seymour and Sharon Stewart and Barbara (Bill) Bradtke, both of Columbus; a grandson, Richard Johnson of Cynthiana, Kentucky; two great-granddaughters; stepdaughter, Misty (Jaime) Gray of Vallonia; and two step-granddaughters, Katelyn and Shelby Gray.

Mr. Wolfe was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Greta Johnson; and a brother, Robert Wolfe.
