John Francis Mullikin, 77 active in Dupont's Masons

John Francis Mullikin, 77, of North Vernon died at 9:35 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services with the Rev. Dale Boyd officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4 until 8 p.m. and one hour prior to service Thursday. Masonic Services will be conducted by members of Dupont Masonic Lodge #419 at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery with military graveside rites. Mr. Mullikin, a 1955 graduate of Dupont High School, retired in 2002 after 36 years from Cummins Engine Company in Columbus. He had been a member of Dupont Masonic Lodge #419 since 1976, and was secretary of the lodge. Mr. Mullikin enjoyed watching I.U. basketball, target shooting, fishing, being outdoors and yard work.

Born January 6, 1937 in Madison, Mr. Mullikin was the son of the late William and Mary McFaden Mullikin. He married Naomi Buchanan on October 8, 1960 in North Vernon and she survives.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Darren and Corey Mullikin, both of North Vernon; daughter, Felicia Giddings of North Vernon; brothers, Kenneth (Pauline) Mullikin of Clarksville, Don (Frances) Mullikin of Bedford, Kentucky, and William (Mary) Mullikin of Madison; six grandchildren, Zachary R. Mullikin and Amber Giddings, both of North Vernon, Jordan D., Alexandrew L., John C., and Austin M. Mullikin, all of Vernon; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Brent Mullikin; and grandchild, Ashley Mullikin.

Memorials through the funeral home to Cancer Center in Seymour.
