Donald Johnson, 87, a native of Irvin, Kentucky
Donald Johnson, 87, of North Vernon died Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis.
Funeral services were Monday at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Burial was at Bear Creek Cemetery in Sand Creek Township.
Mr. Johnson retired from Arvin Industries after 30 years of employment. He enjoyed ice fishing, hunting, splitting wood, gardening and raising bird dogs.
Born January 15, 1927, in Irvin, Kentucky, Mr. Johnson was the son of the late Fred and Gladys Thomas Johnson. On August 1, 1947, he married Betty Jane Armstrong. She survives.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Kimmy Johnson of North Vernon; daughter, Karen Beeman of Kent; sisters, Juanita Singleton of North Vernon, Dorotha Dilk of Pekin, and Kathleen Holly of Bowling Green, Kentucky; brother, Louis Johnson, of North Vernon; grandchildren, Lisa Wools and Ryan, Angie and Eddie Beeman; seven great-grandchildren, Sydney McCammon, Korbin and Kendall Krise, Brayten Beeman, and Morgan, Carson and Keaton Wools.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Carrel, Stanford and Palmer Johnson.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Mercy Rescue and Adoption of Jennings County.
