Ida L. Huffman, 87, of Butlerville died Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Jennings Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Rev. Tom Mattingly will officiate. Interment will be in Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Huffman farmed with her husband and was a homemaker. She was a lifelong member of Graham Baptist Church and graduated from Butlerville High School in 1944. The ladies of the class formed a group that met monthly that they called "Butlerville Gals of 44" of which Mrs. Huffman was a member. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Born July 18, 1926, Mrs. Huffman was the daughter of Thomas and Lena Gintner Welch. She married Everett Lee Huffman and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son, Jerry (Kathy) Huffman of Butlerville; grandchildren, Andrew Huffman of North Vernon and Matthew (Lisa) Huffman, Sarah (Stephen) Campbell, Suzanne Spencer, and Dan Johnson, and Kathryn Burton, all of Columbus, and Elizabeth (Tony) Piazza of Muncie; great-grandchildren, Alicia and Chase Huffman , Olivia and Emma Campbell, Cole Spencer, Caroline Burton, Molly, Maggie and Harrison Piazza, and Danielle Johnson; and one great-great-grandchild, Lauren Campbell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, James A. Huffman; sisters, Georgia Bruce, Laura Speer, and Cora Perkins; and brother, Thomas Welch.
