John Wayne Cook, 61 enjoyed lots of sports
John Wayne Cook, 61, of North Vernon died at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at the Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus.
Funeral services will be at 12 noon Saturday at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Jennings County with Rev. Ron Norris. Visitation hours will be from 10 to 11:45 a.m. at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
Mr. Cook was a 1972 graduate of Jennings County High School. He was employed at Enkei in Columbus for four years as a welder and had also worked at INDOT for eight years and Arvin Industries for 11 years. Mr. Cook was a member of the 2nd United Methodist Church and was a former Tea Creek Baptist Church member. His hobbies included racing RC cars, golfing, NASCAR, motorcycles, watching football and basketball, and his grandchildren.
Born September 19, 1952 in Columbus, Mr. Cook was the son of Christopher Perkins and Sarah Jane Cook Anderson.
Survivors include two sons, John and Ben (Sarah) Cook, both of North Vernon; brothers, Jerry and James Anderson and Robert (Alma Joann) Cook, all of North Vernon, Ron Alvie and Chris Perkins of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Paul Anderson of Gulf Port, Mississippi; a sister, Debra MacLaughlin of North Vernon; grandchildren, Alexander Jaden Cook of California, and Jason Owen Cook and Brooklyn Faye Cook, both of North Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Paula Bolden; and a brother, Bernie Cook.
Memorial donations through the funeral home to the family for expenses.
