Ruby Mae McVey, 95, of Butlerville enjoyed crafts
Ruby Mae McVey, 95, of Butlerville died Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Jennings Healthcare Center.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Nebraska Church of God. Rev. Edward Wooddell will officiate. Visitation will be Monday from 4 until 8 p.m. at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Burial will be at Flat Rock Cemetery in Ripley County.
Mrs. McVey had worked as a cook in the school system and retired from the Early Learning Center. She was a member of Nebraska Church of God and enjoyed making quilts and gardening, and oil painting.
Born October 29, 1918, in Anderson, Mrs. McVey was the daughter of the late Ben and Minnie Gustin Kennon. She married Ralph L. McVey in November 1936. He preceded her in death in December 1988.
Survivors include daughter, Rebecca Hull of Butlerville; two sons, Ralph E. and Don McVey, both of Butlerville; a sister, Ruth Hamilton of Anderson; ten grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; two daughters, Pat and Susan Beeman; sister, Georgia Wright; three half-brothers, Jasper and Harvey Pine and Fred Kennon; and two grandchildren.
