Edgar Vanderbur, 84, a lifelong Decatur resident
Edgar "Eddie" Vanderbur, 84, of Greensburg died at 1:10 p.m. Monday, February 17, 2014 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital Emergency Room.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home with Rev. Michael D. Miller officiating. Burial will follow at the Burks Chapel Cemetery with military graveside rites. A time of visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Vanderbur, a U.S. Army veteran, served during the Korean Conflict. He was a lifelong resident of Decatur County and had graduated from Sandcreek High School in 1948. He owned and operated the Vanderbur Excavating business for several years and attended Rodney Wesleyan Church. Mr. Vanderbur enjoyed drinking coffee and visiting with people.
Born July 21, 1929 in Decatur County, Mr. Vanderbur was the son of Nolan and Minnie Pearl McKelvey Vanderbur. He married Alma Bundren on June 11, 1955 in Shelbyville and she survives.
Other survivors include his daughter, Teresa (Sam Campbell) Schutte of Greensburg; son, Bruce Vanderbur of Greensburg; grandchildren, Jeremy and Craig (Charlene) Schutte, Shasta (Chad) Shiner, and Grace and Olivia Vanderbur; great-grandchild, Trevor Howard; sisters, Marjorie Moore of Wolcott and Blanche "Peachie" Wells of Greensburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ruth Irene Kelly and Leota Mae Moore; brothers, Nolan "Pete," Jr., Floyd Ernest, Earl W. and Dennis Loren Vanderbur.
